Agnew Meadows Group Camp Campground Inyo National Forest California
Agnew Meadows Group Camp Overview
Agnew Meadows Group Camp has 4 group sites located in a forest area just west of Mammoth Lakes in the Inyo National Forest. It is also next to the main Agnew Meadows Campground and Horse Camp. At Agnew Meadows Group Camp, 2 of the sites can have up to 20 guests and 8 vehicles. The other 2 sites can have up to 10 guests and 3 vehicles. The max vehicle length at the sites is 30ft. However, the road to the facility is narrow and a single-lane. They recommend a max trailer length of 20ft. This campground allows for RV, trailer, as well as tent camping. Many pine trees provide plenty of shade. Also, there is a max of 2 pets per site and there is good cell coverage here. Agnew Horse Camp is open from late May until early October.
Bears frequent the area so the use of bear-proof lockers is important. Also, mosquitoes can be abundant in early to mid summer. In addition, this campground only allows one RV per single site. Most sites can accommodate 2 extra vehicles with an additional fee per vehicle.
Amenities at this campground and the sites include picnic tables, fire pits, as well as drinking water. Also, there are fire rings, grills, and food lockers. Reds Meadow Pack Station and Resort has a general store and cafe, as well as horseback riding tours. Some close by RV dump stations include Mammoth Community Water District (11mi east), Mammoth Mountain RV Park (10mi east), and Old Shady Rest Campground / New Shady Rest Campground (9.5mi east).

Also, trailheads to the Ansel Adams Wilderness and Pacific Crest Trail are also in the vicinity. However, some of the terrain can be challenging for horses, especially due to the high elevation.
