Caples Lake Overview

Caples Lake Campground and has 30 first-come, first-serve campsites and is located near the lake at an elevation of 7,850 feet.

The campground is generally open early June to mid-October and set among towering granite outcroppings and pine forest. All camp roads and parking spurs are paved. Amenities include drinking water, vault toilets and trash collection. Firewood is also available to purchase from the camp host (site 26). A public boat ramp is also available less than a mile away. The Caples Lake Resort is just across the highway and has a store, restaurant, boat rentals and cabin rentals.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Some sites are better suited for trailers & RVs (see campground map). A few of the sites (6, 7, 8 and 17) have a short walk from the parking area to the camping area. Each site also has a table, fire ring and grill. Parking spurs range in size from 20 to 40 feet.

Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor Recreation in the area includes boating, canoeing, kayaking, paddle-boarding, fishing, swimming, hiking, mountain biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing.

Woods Lake Campground is also nearby (3.5 miles). Hope Valley Campground is also nice.
