Faucherie Overview

Faucherie Group Campground has 2 group sites and is next to Faucherie Lake in Tahoe National Forest. There are two, 25 person sites that can accommodate tents and up to 3 vehicles per site. The road to access the campground is very rough, rocky, and narrow. This makes low clearance vehicles like RVs and trailers unsuitable for this campground. Having a high clearance vehicle is necessary for reaching the campground. There are lots of trees providing some shade for the sites. This campground also allows pets. It is open from June to October. Cell service can range from poor to nonexistent.

Amenities include picnic tables, fire rings, as well as grills. Also, bear proof food lockers are available at the sites. In addition, there are also vault toilets and garbage service. The closest dump station options are Inn Town Campground (45mi southwest), Nevada Irrigation District Scotts Flat Recreation Area (45mi southwest), and Dutch Flat RV Resort (39mi southwest).

The Nevada Irrigation District maintains and operates this campground.

Canyon Creek Campground is also nearby.

Faucherie Group Campground – Area & Recreation

Faucherie Campground allows for many activities for guests. Some of the more popular activities are hiking, fishing, and non-motorized boating. Brown and Rainbow trout are the most common species to be found in the lake. Also, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are just a couple of things available to do in the winter months. Faucherie Dam and Lake has granite mountains with peaks and waterfalls to enjoy as well.

Tahoe National Forest is an amazing area in the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. There is plenty of wildlife to see and experience. Black bears, deer, coyotes, bobcats, as well as beavers may be found in the area. Also, birds such as mountain quail and various songbirds frequent the area. Canyon Creek is also close by. This creek has waterfalls and also leads to other nearby lakes such as Sawmill, Weil, and French.

Truckee and Lake Tahoe are about 2.5 hours away. Also, Sacramento is about 3 hours away.
