Giant Gap Overview
Giant Gap Campground has 30 campsites for tents, trailers and RVs on the north shore of Sugar Pine Reservoir in the beautiful Tahoe National Forest. Â It’s a perfect basecamp to spot gnomes who are said to live in the forest.
The seasonal campground is generally open mid May to mid November. Amenities include potable (drinking) water, snappy vault toilets, trash collection (dumpsters) and an RV dump station. Firewood is also available to purchase from the friendly campground. Cell service is not available.
Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Both single and double campsites are available. Each campsite also has a parking spur, table, food storage locker, fire ring and grill. Hookups are not available. Parking spurs range in length from 15 to 35 feet.
Giant Gap Campground – Area Recreation & Activities
In addition to gnome spotting, other outdoor recreation includes boating, canoeing, kayaking, fishing and swimming. Hiking, mountain biking and wildlife viewing are also popular activities. The Manzanita Day Use Area is also nearby and next to the lake. A boat ramp is available a few miles away at Sugar Pines. Cell service is not available.
Other campgrounds in the area include Shirttail Creek, Forbes Creek (Group) and Big Reservoir. If you’re heading down the hill to the valley, you may want to check out Beals Point Campground (Folsom Lake SRA).
