Hells Gate Overview

Hells Gate Campground has 17 single-family campsites and is next to the South Fork of the Trinity River at 2,300 feet in elevation. All sites are first-come, first-serve.

Campsites can accommodate tents, RVs and trailers (up to 16 feet). Each site also has a table, fire ring and grill. Amenities include vault toilets and trash collection. Potable (drinking) water is not available. Cell service is poor in the area.

Forest Glen Campground is also just a mile away.

Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes fishing, kayaking, rafting, swimming, hiking, mountain biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing. There’s also a swim beach and nice swimming hole next to the campground.
