Horse Creek Recreation Area Overview

Horse Creek Recreation Area campground has 77 single-family campsites and is located on the shores of the Kaweah River and Kaweah Lake in the Sierra Nevada foothills. The sites are mostly large with great views of the lake. Six of the campsites can accommodate equestrian campers and there are also 4 boat-in sites.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each site also has a parking spur, table, fire ring and grate. Some sites also have shade structures. Hookups are not available.

The campground is open year round. Amenities include potable (drinking) water, flush toilets, hot-water showers, trash collection (dumpsters) and an RV dump station. Firewood is also available for sale from the camp host.

Horse Creek Recreation Area – Outdoor Activities

The river and lake offer great fishing, boating, canoeing, kayak, swimming, windsurfing, water-skiing and sailing. It is also just 10 miles from Sequoia National Park and is a great basecamp to visit the big trees. Other outdoor recreation includes hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing.
