Independence Creek Overview

Independence Creek campground has 25 single-family campsites along the banks of Independence Creek. Approximately half are along the road (south of the creek) and the others located north of the creek. The campground is about a mile west of the town of Independence.
The campground has drinking water and vault toilets. Each campsite also has a table, fire ring and grate. You can also purchase firewood and supplies from stores in town.
Outdoor recreation in the area includes fishing, hiking, biking, backpacking, picnicking and wildlife viewing. The Eastern California Museum is nearby and also the Manzanar Japanese American Internet Camp National Historic Site.
Other campgrounds in the area include Onion Valley and Upper Grays Meadow and Lower Gray Meadow.

A great place for an overnight stay. Never gets full. Can be hot in the summer, but there’s a nice stream running thru the campground.
