Lewis at French Meadows Campground Tahoe National Forest California

Lewis at French Meadows Overview

Lewis at French Meadows campground has 38 campsites and in the north shore of the French Meadows Reservoir. This campground can accommodate RV, trailer, and tent camping. Each site can have up to 6 guests and 2 vehicles. The maximum vehicle length at each site ranges from 22ft-50ft. However, large single unit RVs are not suitable for the campground roads. Even though a site might have a 40 foot parking space, a 40 foot long RV can’t navigate through the campground.

Some of the campsites may be available on a first come first serve basis. A few of the campsites are ADA accessible as well. Bears live in the area so it is important to store food in bear-proof lockers. There is no cell service at the campground or in the area. Pets can come. There is tons of shade from mixed conifer trees that surround the sites. Lewis campground is open from mid May until mid October.

Lewis at French Meadows amenities include picnic tables, grills, flush and vault toilets, as well as campfire rings. There is also a camp host, trash collection, and food lockers. In addition, there is drinking water. However, water systems at remote sites can be unreliable. It is a smart idea to bring additional drinking water for your stay. If the water system fails, the closest services are in Foresthill. Foresthill is 40 miles away which is where you can buy last minute or extra supplies. The closest dump stations are at the French Meadows RV Dump Station (3mi south) and in the Foresthill area (40mi west).
