Quaking Aspen Overview

Quaking Aspen campground has 32 campsites and is located at the end of Highway 190 in a beautiful forest of (wait for it) quaking aspen trees. If you’re lucky to be camping in early October, you may just see them turn into deep russet-gold.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. One cabin is also available to rent. Campsites 2, 3, 5, 28 and E also have yurts.  Group camping is also available (A, B, C and D).

The campground is usually open mid May to mid October. Amenities include potable (drinking) water, vault toilets and trash collection. Each campsite also has a parking spur, table, fire ring and grate. Parking spurs range in length from 20 ft. to 35 ft (most in the 20 foot range), but the maximum trailer/RV length is 26 feet due to limited turnaround space in the campground. Overflow parking is available for extra vehicles (no RVs or trailers). Cell service is not available in the area.

Quaking Aspen – Area Recreation and Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes fishing, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, hunting, OHV riding, and picnicking and wildlife viewing. As for fishing, nearby Peppermint Creek and other streams in the Golden Trout Wilderness are good bets. The Tule River is also good.

Other campgrounds in the area include Belknap, Wishon, Coy Flat, Redwood Meadow and Holey Meadow.
