Stovepipe Wells Campground Death Valley National Park California

Stovepipe Wells Overview

Stovepipe Wells Campground Entrance

Death Valley National Park’s Stovepipe Wells is a large, first-come first-serve campground with 190 campsites primarily for RVs and trailers, but campers can also pitch a tent. There are also about 14 sites with electric hookups. This is basically a large, flat parking lot type of set up. There are some tables and fire pits, but not every campsite has them. There’s drinking water, flush toilets and an RV sanitation station.

Stovepipe Wells campground also has a convenience store/gift shop, nice motel, cabins, bar and restaurant. Some pretty nice stand dunes are nearby offering hours of hiking and body-sand-surfing enjoyment for the entire family.

Death Valley National Park offers geological wonders and a desert environment that will amaze and befuddle. Ranging from -196 to over 12,000 feet in elevation, the park offers a variety of outdoor activities including visiting old ghost towns and historic sites, sand sledding, hiking, biking, wildlife viewing, stargazing, photography and even golfing. It’s a big park, so plan on staying at least a few days to see the sites!

Alternate campgrounds at Death Valley National Park include Furnace Creek, Texas Springs and Sunset.
