Wawona Overview

Wawona Campground has 94 campsites for tents, trailers and RVs along the banks of the Merced River in the southern end of  Yosemite National Park. The Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias is also just a short drive away and Yosemite Valley is 45 minutes.

The campground is open year round and most sites have nice shade. Amenities include potable (drinking) water, flush toilets, overflow parking and trash collection. Firewood is also available to purchase from the camp host. A general store and gas station are about a mile away at the Wawona Hotel.  Cell service is fair in the area.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each site has a paved parking spur, table, food storage locker, fire ring and grill.  Parking spurs range in length from 15 ft. to 35 ft. Group and equestrian sites are also available. The Wawona group site can accommodate up to 30 people and 5 vehicles (17ft.). The Wawona equestrian campsites (2) can have up to 2 vehicle (30ft.) and 6 people

Up to 2 motor vehicles are allowed per campsite (trailers don’t count as a vehicle). All vehicles wheels must be on the paved parking surface.  Accessible sites include 67, 69, 70 and 89.

Area Recreation & Activities

World famous Yosemite National Park offers spectacular scenery and amazing wonders that boggle the imagination. Outdoor recreation includes hiking, backpacking, biking, kayaking, photography, climbing, rock climbing, horseback riding, fishing, nature exhibits, museums, camping and wildlife viewing. There are also many historic sits to visit throughout the Park.

Other campgrounds in Yosemite National Park include: Upper Pines, Lower Pines, North Pines, Tuolumne Meadows, Hodgdon Meadow and Crane Flat. Summerdale Campground is also nearby (just outside the park).
