Elkhead Reservoir State Park Overview

Elkhead Reservoir State Park is located next to the 900-acre reservoir and is surrounded by rolling hills and farmland at an elevation of 6,355 feet.  The park has a total of 46 campsites in two campgrounds. Pronghorn campground has 30 campsites with electric hookups and Bears Ears campground has 16 standard campsites (no hookups). There are also 4 day use sites in Pronghorn.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each site also has a parking spur, table (with shade cover), fire ring and grill. The campground is generally open May 1 through October 31. Amenities include vault toilets and dumpsters/trash collection. Potable (drinking) water is not available. A boat ramp and boat trailer lot are nearby (less than a mile).  A dump station and showers are available at Yampa River State Park Headquarters (12 miles).
