Prospector Campground White River National Forest Colorado

Prospector Overview

Prospector campground is a popular and large campground with 105 campsites located at 9,000 feet in the White River National Forest.  From the campground you’ll have beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and Dillon Reservoir.

The campground is seasonal and usually open mid May to early October. Amenities include potable (drinking) water, vault toilets and trash collection (dumpsters). Firewood is also available for sale from the camp host. Cell service is good in the area. Boat ramp access is available in the marinas located in the nearby towns of Frisco and Dillon.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each campsite also has a gravel parking spur, food storage locker, table, fire ring and grill.

Prospector Campground Area Recreation

Outdoor recreation includes boating, canoeing, kayaking and fishing at nearby Dillon Reservoir. Other activities include horseback riding, hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing.

Other campgrounds in the area include Peak One, Heaton Bay and Lowry.
