Hammonasset Beach State Park Overview

Hammonasset Beach State Park features a two-mile sandy beach and a large campground with 556 grassy/open campsites. In fact, the campground has about 40% of all campsites in the great state of Connecticut. There are also 8 rustic cabins available to rent.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each site has a parking spur and table. Sites do not have firerings but you can bring your own raised fire pit or rent one at the camp store. There are also 88 sites with water and electric hookups. The 8 cabins all have two rooms with a double bed and two bunk beds. Each cabin also has a table, fire ring and grill.

Amenities include drinking water, bathhouses (flush toilets, hot showers, dishwashing and potable water), a camp store 6 RV dump stations and trash collection. There’s also an amphitheater, playground, volleyball court and adult exercise equipment. Ice and firewood are available on site. Cell service is fair in the area. Pets are not allowed at the park/campground.

Hammonasset Beach State Park – Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation includes fishing, swimming, hiking, biking, boating, kayaking, volleyball, picnicking and wildlife viewing.  The campground/park also offers weekend movie nights, guided nature walks and bingo.

You may also like Fishermen’s Memorial State Park (RI), or Hopeville Pond State Park (CT).

  1. Absolute worst Camp Hosts. They cancel every event they schedule while receiving free beach camping all summer. They’re an embarassment and a constant disappointment for young children. Shame on you and shame on Hammonasset.
