Florida Caverns State Park Campground has 38 single-family campsites. There are 32 sites with hookups (maximum lengths 40 feet), 3 tent only sites and 3 equestrian sites (with hookups). Each campsite is quite large and all have trees offering plenty of shade. Each site has a table, fire ring and grill. Available at the campground is water, showers, restrooms with flush toilets, and a dump staition.

In addition,  the park is one of the few state parks with dry (air-filled) caves. It is the only state park in Florida to offer cave tours to the public. The cave has formations of limestone stalactites, stalagmites, soda straws, flowstones and draperies. Nearby is the Chipola River that is a freshwater spring. The spring provides area for fishing, canoeing and boating. Florida Caverns State Park is popular for camping, picnicking and horseback riding. The park does not rent horses, however stables are available for equestrian campers. The park also features a nine-hole, New Deal-era golf course set in beautiful rolling terrain.

Three nearby Florida State Parks include: Three Rivers State Park, Falling Waters State Park and Torreya State Park.

Can you tell me how many miles of trails are available for horseback riding and are the trails well marked?

    1. Camp Ranger says:

      Hi Anne,

The Florida State Parks page has a write up on the Florida Caverns – Horse Equestrian Trail, but it does not give the mileage. You can read more up on it HERE. I’d recommend contacting the park directly to check on the mileage: 850 482-1228
