Kelly Park – Rock Springs Overview
Kelly Park is located next to the Rock Springs Run State Reserve and has 26 campsites and 2 group sites. Each of the single-family campsites have electric hookups and can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each site also has a table, fire ring, grill and water access. Campsites #3 and #17 are double/buddy sites (two setups of water hookups, tables and fire rings, but only one electric hookup. There is no campsite #15.
The campground is open year-round. Amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, hot-water showers, trash collection and a dump station. There’s also a playground and mixed-use trails throughout the park.
The 255-acre Kelly Park was donated by Dr. Howard A. Kelly in 1927 for use as a public park, wildlife preserve and bird sanctuary. The main attraction is Rock Springs Run, a natural free-flowing spring that travels nine miles to the Wekiva River. The spring maintains an average flow of 26,000 gallons per minute with a constant 68 degree temperature.
Kelly Park campers have multiple ways to access and enjoy the run:
- Swimming & Tubing: You can walk to the designated swimming areas and tube runs from your campsite. A scenic, paved 0.5 to 0.75-mile trail connects the camping area to the main springs.
- Paddling (Kayaking/Canoeing): The park features a canoe and kayak launch at Camp Joy (adjacent to Kelly Park). Campers can register their personal paddlecraft for a nominal fee and launch to explore the run.
- Day-Pass Guarantee: Your campground reservation includes admission to the spring. However, to guarantee access to the water on checkout day, it is highly recommended to move your car to the general parking lot early in the morning before the day-use capacity is reached.
Area Recreation & Activities
Outdoor recreation in the area includes tubing, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, hiking, biking, horseback riding, picnicking and wildlife viewing. Â Paddling boarding is also popular.

Can you access Rock Springs for swimming and tubing from the campgrounds?

You’ll be directed to the Orange County Parks reservation page where you can select ‘Kelly Park’ to check. I did do a quick check for you though and the campground is sold out May 15-18.
How far is it from the Kelly Park campsites to the Rock Springs public run access?
From the Kelly Park campsites you’re looking at about 3/4 of a mile to a Rock Springs Run access.

Is there a way to see the campground availability for the year? Every date I individually put in, the campground has no availability. I’ve tried various dates throughout this year and next year. How can I see any availabilities?

I tried checking the Orange County Webtrac reservation system and was able to see availability for some random (mid week / 1 night) stays, but mostly the reservation camp map showed sold out. It does not look like their system allows you to see what campsites may be open throughout the year, but I did find an email at the park you can try to see if you can get a little more info: [email protected]

Yes, campers at Kelly Park Campground have access to Rock Springs Run. The crystal-clear waterway runs directly through the park and is easily accessible from the designated campsites. You can also walk to the designated swimming areas and tube runs from your campsite.
