Long Pine Key Overview

Long Pine Key Campground is located about 7 miles from the main entrance of Everglades National Park and has 108 single-family campsites. One group site (up to 15 people) is also available.

Unlike the swampy, sawgrass marshes of the Everglades, Long Pine Key sits on a raised limestone outcropping. It features an open canopy of South Florida slash pine, hardwood hammocks, and a diverse understory that shelters rare flora and fauna, including the endangered Florida panther.

Campsites can accommodate tent, trailers and RVs. The trailer/RV sites can be reserved and the tent only sites (69 to 82) are first-come, first-serve. Each site is allowed 2 tents or 1 RV and 1 tent. Up to 2 vehicles and 8 people per site. Most campsites have back-in parking, but a few have curb parking for larger RVs.  Each site has a paved parking spur, table, fire ring and grill. All campsites are also open to the sun, with very little shade.

The campground is generally open November through April. There are no electric or water hookups. Amenities include modern restrooms with flush toilets, potable (drinking) water, dish washing stations, solar-powered hot-water showers and trash collection An RV dump station and water fill station is also available.  Ice is also available to purchase at the entrance station. Check out-time is 12:00 PM and check-in time is 2:00 PM. Quiet hours are from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM.

Outdoor recreation and activities include kayaking, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, picnicking, hiking, biking and wildlife viewing. The You can also tour the Nike Missile Base (about 11 miles away).
