W.P. Franklin North Overview

W.P. Franklin North Campground is located on an island in the middle of the beautiful Caloosahatchee River and next to W.P. Franklin Lock and Dam.  The well-maintained (USACE) campground has pleasant tropical vibes. All of the 30 Class A campsites have water & electric hookups and most are waterfront. There are also 8 cruiser (boat) sites with water & electric hookups.

The campground is open year round. Amenities include potable (drinking) water, flush toilets, hot-water showers, trash collection (dumpsters) and a dump station. There’s also a boat ramp and courtesy dock. Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (up to 35 feet). Each site has water & electric hookups, a paved parking spur, table, fire ring and grill. The boat sites also have water hookups. Cell service is good in the area.

W.P. Franklin North Campground – Area Recreation and Activities

In addition to watching boats pass by on the Okeechobee Waterway, there are also a variety of outdoor recreation activities. Visitors can enjoy boating, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, picnicking, biking and wildlife viewing. W. P. Franklin South Recreation Area (picnic / day use) is also nearby.
