Hester’s Ferry Overview

Hester's Ferry Campground J Strom Thurmond Lake Scenic

Hester’s Ferry Campground has 26 spacious campsites and is located in a forested area along the shoreline of J. Strom Thurmond Lake. Fishing Creek also flows past the campground as it enters into the lake. There are 16 campsites with water & electric (sites 1-16) and the rest are primitive (no hookups).

All campsites are near the water and are well-separated. Sites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each site has a gravel parking spur, table, BBQ pedestal, lantern pole, fire ring and grill.

The campground is open year-round. Amenities include potable (drinking) water, flush toilets, hot-water showers, trash collection (dumpsters) and an RV dump station (with water fill). There is also a boat ramp next to the campground. Cell service is poor in the area.

Hester’s Ferry Campground – Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes boating, fishing, kayaking, water sports, swimming, hiking, biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing.

You might also like Baker Creek State Park (SC), about 30 minutes away.
