Buffalo Overview

Buffalo Campground has 121 campsites and is located on the banks of the Buffalo River 26 miles south of West Yellowstone. Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. The campground has 50 of the 121 campsites that are reservable. Each campsite also has a paved parking spur, table, fire ring and grill.  The C-loop (c1-c19) campsites have electric hookups. Group camping is also available (E-loop).

The campground is seasonal and usually open mid May to late September. Amenities include potable (drinking) water, flush toilets and trash collection (dumpsters). Firewood is also available to purchase from the camp host. Cell service is good in the area.

Buffalo Campground – Area Recreation

Visitors love the area for its world-class fishing, scenery and wildlife viewing.  Outdoor recreation includes fishing, fly fishing, biking, hiking, horseback riding, hunting, canoeing, kayaking, tubing and picnicking. Wildlife viewing is also great in the area.

You may also be interested in Riverside campground (about 13 miles south). Harriman State Park is also nice.
