Forrest “Bo” Wood Overview

Forrest “Bo” Wood campground has 135 reservable campsites and is on the northern shore of Lake Shelbyville in the heart of central Illinois. There are 53 sites with full hookups and the rest have electric hookups (with about 6 also having water hookups.  Thirty nine of the sites are waterfront.

The spacious campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each site has a gravel parking spur, table, fire ring and grill. The parking spurs range in length from 50 feet to 110 feet. Several sites are tent only and also have lantern poles.

The campground is usually open mid April to late October. Amenities include potable (drinking) water, flush toilets, hot-water showers, a laundry facility, trash collection (dumpsters) and an RV dump station (with water fill). Firewood is available to purchase from the camp host. There’s also a boat ramp, boat trailer parking, playgrounds, dog park and an amphitheater. Cell service is mostly good in the area.

Outdoor recreation in the area includes boating, kayaking, fishing, swimming, water sports, hiking, biking and picnicking. Wildlife viewing is also good in the area.

Other nearby campgrounds include Coon Creek, Lone Point and Opossum Creek.
