Gun Creek Overview

Gun Creek Campground has 101 spacious campsites and is located in a forested area on the eastern shore of Rend Lake. All of the sites have electric hookups and 26 have full hookups.

The seasonal campground is generally open mid March to mid November. Amenities include potable (drinking) water, flush toilets, hot-water showers, trash collection (dumpsters) and an RV dump station. Firewood is also available to purchase from the friendly camp hosts. Playgrounds are located in the Nighthawk and Eagle camping loops. Cell service is good in the area.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. In addition to hookups, each site also has a paved parking area, table, fire ring and grill.

Other campgrounds in the area include South Sandusky, North Sandusky, South Marcum and Wayne Fitzgerrell State Recreation Area.

Gun Creek Campground – Area Recreation & Activities

Gun Creek Campground is conveniently located near the Gun Creek Day Use Area, which includes a boat ramp and a reservable picnic shelter. The area offers abundant opportunities for boating, hiking, fishing, hunting, swimming, and general outdoor exploration. Additional recreation features around Rend Lake include the Rend Lake Bike Trail, an archery complex with a 3D trail and elevated shooting platform, a dog park with a swimming feature, and two public swimming beaches (including the pet-friendly North Marcum Beach).
