Morrison-Rockwood State Park Overview

Morrison-Rockwood State Park has 68 campsites and is located in a forested area next to scenic Lake Carlton in Whiteside County, IL. There are 59 sites available to reserve and the others are first-come first-served.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each site has electric hookups, a parking spur, table, fire ring and grill.

The seasonal campground is generally open early May to late October. Amenities include potable (drinking) water, flush toilets, hot-water showers, trash collection and an RV dump station. There’s also a boat ramp and day use/picnic area.

Morrison-Rockwood State Park – Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes boating, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, swimming, water sports, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, hunting and wildlife viewing.  In the winter visitors can enjoy ice fishing, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.

A two-lane concrete boat ramp allows easy access to Lake Carlton. Outboard motors are restricted to 10 HP and under, and all boats with motors are to be operated under “no wake” speeds to protect the shoreline from wave erosion.
