Deam Lake State Recreation Area Overview

Deam Lake SRA has a family campground and an equestrian campground next to the 194-acre Deam Lake in the rolling hills of southern Indiana. The 1,300 park includes the two campgrounds, day use / picnic areas,  a swim beach, boat ramp, boat trailer lot, playground and miles of hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding trails.

Deam Lake SRA – Family Campground

Deam Lake Family campground has 113 campsites with electric hookups. Each site also has a parking spur, table, fire ring and grill. Campground amenities include potable (drinking) water, flush toilets, hot-water showers and trash collection (dumpsters). There is also a dump station over near the ranger station.

Deam Lake SRA – Equestrian Campground

The class-A equestrian campground offers 63 electric campsites with a hitching post and 36 electric campsites that come with a horse stall. Lakeside sites have two stalls. The equestrian campground offers two short lead-outs to connect with 80 miles of multipurpose trails located in Clark State Forest. Large horse barns are also located near the equestrian campground.

Deam Lake SRA – Cabin Rentals

The 19 rent-a-camp cabins are available seasonally (April – October), including three in the equestrian campground. Walk-ins are permitted in March and November, weather permitting. Each cabin has a front porch with a swing, outside electric outlet, and front porch light. Inside, there are two small rooms each providing a ceiling fan with light, a heating/cooling unit, and electrical outlets. The front room offers a small table with bench seats, corner shelf, chair, rocking chair, and a loft. The back room offers a bunk bed (single) and a double bed (no linens or mattress provided).

Deam Lake SRA – Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes boating, fishing, kayaking, paddle-boarding, swimming, water sports, horseback riding, hiking, biking, hunting and wildlife viewing.

The Forest Education Center is also located across the street from the office. It is managed by a seasonal naturalist and houses several displays and hands-on activities for kids and adults.
