Jordan Lake State Rec Area Overview

Jordan Lake State Recreation Area is about 30 miles west of downtown Raleigh and offers 5 campgrounds with over 1,000 campsites.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Many sites have water & electric hookups. Group and backcountry sites are also available.

Amenities include drinking water, flush and vault toilets, showers, trash collection (dumpsters) and dump stations. Fire is available to purchase from the camp hosts. There’s also an amphitheater, boat ramps, picnic shelters, visitor center and beach access.

Crosswinds Campground is open year round. Poplar Point Campground is open early April to early November. Parkers Creek Campground is open early April to late November. Vista Point (group sites) and New Hope (tent only / walk-to sites) open early March and closes late November.

Jordan Lake State Recreation Area – Outdoor Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes boating, canoeing, kayaking, paddle-boarding, fishing, water sports, swimming, hiking, biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing.
