Basin Campground White Mountain National Forest New Hampshire

Basin Overview

Basin Campground has 22 campsites and is in a rustic, remote part of White Mountain National Forest in New Hampshire. Most sites are reservable, but a few are held for first-come, first-serve campers.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (25 to 35 feet). Each site also has a table, fire ring and grill. Amenigties include drinking water (hand pump), vault toilets and trash collection. Firewood is also available to purchase from the camp host. Cell service is not available in the area.

Maximum 2 vehicles per site, but your camping fee only pays for one. There’s an additional fee for the 2nd vehicle.

Other nearby campgrounds are Cold River and Hastings.

Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes hiking, mountain biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing. There’s also a small (23 acre) pond nearby where you can cast a line or do some paddling. The White Mountains boast pristine forests, clear mountain streams and rivers and the tallest peaks in the Northeast. The forest encompasses nearly 800,000 acres in New Hampshire and western Maine, and is one of the most popular in the country.
