Big Lake West Overview

Big Lake West Campground has 11 tent only / double sites (up to 12 people) in a forested area right along the shoreline of the lake.  Many also have spectacular views of beautiful Mt. Washington.

All 11 campsites are reservable. They do not have parking spur; vehicles (including RVs) must park along the road’s edge near the campsites. Each site has a parking area about 40ft. long and the walk to the camping area ranges from 100 to 300 feet.  Each site also has a table, fire ring and grill.

The campground is generally open mid May through late October. Amenities include potable (drinking) water, vault toilets and trash collection. There’s also a day-use/picnic area and boat ramp next to Big Lake campground. Firewood is also available to purchase from the camp host at Big Lake campground. Cell service is good in the area.

Big Lake West Campground – Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes boating, fishing, kayaking, paddle-boarding, swimming, water sports, hiking, biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing.

The campground is also adjacent to the Santiam Pass OHV Motorized Recreation Area and is a popular campground for OHV enthusiasts.
