Boulder Flat (OR) Overview

Boulder Flat Campground has 9 campsites in a forested area near the North Umpqua River in the Umpqua National Forest.  The max amount of guests each site can accommodate ranges from 4-8. The max number of vehicles each site can accommodate also ranges from 2-3. The max vehicle length is 24ft.

Boulder Flat allows for RV, trailer, as well as tent camping. In addition, some of the sites are ADA accessible. All but one of the campsites has river access. There are tons of trees and shade for most of the sites. Also, there is very poor to no cell coverage here. Boulder Flat is pet friendly. This campground is open from late May until late September.

The seasonal campground is generally open late May to late September. Amenities include picnic tables, fire rings, grills, as well as a changing room building. In addition, there are vault toilets, a day use parking area, and a boat ramp. Overflow parking is available via a large highway turnout with a path to the campground too. There is also a raft put-in for river rafters. Some close by RV dump stations include Timber River RV Park (31mi west), Love’s Truck Stop (58mi west), Douglas County Fairgrounds RV Park (55mi west), and Diamond Lake Campground (28mi east).

Boulder Flat – Area & Recreation

Boulder Flat Campground is an enchanting site, lush with greenery. High mountain lakes, heart-stopping rapids, peaceful ponds, and thundering waterfalls are abundant in the area. This includes the 272ft Watson Falls on the North Umpqua Highway. There is also tons of wildlife around too. There are eagles, owl, salamanders, as well as salmon just to name a few species that live here.

Some popular activities to do here are hiking, mountain biking, as well as fishing. Also, there is whitewater rafting, wildlife viewing, and climbing. The popular 79-mile North Umpqua Trail is a great option for hikers and bikers of all skill levels. There are many trailheads in the area. Twin Lakes offers some spectacular and breathtaking views. Picnicking and wildlife viewing area great options here. Toketee Falls is one of Oregon’s most iconic waterfalls and is right up the highway.

Also, Crater Lake National Park is about an 1hr 20min drive away. It offers a glimpse into the volcanic history of the area. In addition, the Rogue-Umpqua National Scenic Byway is a beautiful 172 mile drive. It has coniferous forests, roaring white water rapids, inter canyon lava flows, as well as fisheries on the nearby rivers.

Other campground you might like are Toketee Lake, Island, Susan Creek, Poole Creek, Diamond Lake, Pine Meadows, as well as Natural Bridge.
