Carter Lake (OR) Overview

Carter Lake Campground has 21 campsites with half near the sand dunes and the other half next to Carter Lake. The campground is part of the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, known for its wind-sculpted sand dunes towering up to 500 feet above sea level.

Campsites are nestled among pine, spruce, Douglas Fir and native rhododendron. Each site has a paved parking spurt, table, fire ring and grill.

The popular campground is generally open early May to late September.  Amenities include potable (drinking water), flush toilets and trash collection. Firewood is also available to purchase from the camp host. Cell service is poor in the area.

Carter Lake Campground – Area Recreation & Activities

Hiking the Carter Dune Trail, fishing for rainbow trout, canoeing and kayaking, swimming, beach combing and off-road vehicle riding are all nearby activities.

Other nearby campgrounds include Driftwood and Lagoon. Spinreel and Eel Creek are also in the area.
