Cold Water Cove Overview

Cold Water Cove Campground has 34 campsites and offers spectacular views of the turquoise-colored Clear Lake and 3000-year old lava fields.  No campsites are directly on the shoreline, but several offer views of the lake.

The campground sits on the south end of Clear Lake in a mix of maple, alder and Douglas fir trees. On a clear day, you can catch a glimpse of the Three Sisters Mountains and Mt. Washington. There are 34 campsites (31 single, 3 multiple). Sites #7 and #10 are accessible. A few will work for small RVs but most are best suited for tent camping.  Each site is equipped with a parking spur (ranging from 18 to 50 feet), picnic table and campfire ring.  No hookups are available.

The seasonal campground is usually open mid May to mid October. Amenities include potable (drinking) water, vault toilets and trash collection (dumpsters). A boat launch for non-motorized watercraft is also close to the campground. Cell service is not available. Firewood is also available to purchase from the camp host.

A picnic / day use area is about 2 miles away and over near Clear Lake Resort, The resort also has a marina/store and paddle-boat rentals.

You might also like Ice Cap Campground or Trout Creek Campground. Lost Prairie Group Site is also about 23 miles away.

Cold Water Cove Campground – Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation includes fishing, canoeing, kayaking, paddle-boarding, row-boating (power not allowed), hiking, mountain biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing.

The McKenzie River National Recreation Trail also passes through the campground and runs along Clear Lake. The trail stretches 26 miles and is open to hikers and mountain bikers.
