East Dunes Overview

East Dunes Campground has 61 campsites and is part of the Sand Lake Recreation Area next to Oregon’s beautiful coast.  The campground is popular for OHV enthusiasts and offers easy access to the beach area and over 1,100 acres of dunes. The climate has strong marine influences with cool summers and moderate winters.

Campsites are best suited for trailer and RV camping but tents will also work in a few sites. Each campsite has a paved parking spur (ranging in size from 20 to 40 feet), a table, fire ring and grill.  There’s also a picnic area, hiking trails and a friendly campground host.

The campground is open year round and all campsites are reservable. Amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, vault toilets and trash collection. Cell service is not available in the area. Also, there are not any RV hookups or dump station available at this campground.

East Dunes Campground – Area Recreation

Off-road vehicle riding is the main attraction, but the San Lake Estuary also offers fishing, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, crabbing, hiking and wildlife viewing.

Although not a OHV destination, Cape Lookout State Park is also on Oregon’s North Coast and about 10 miles to the north.
