Hart-Tish Park at Applegate Lake Overview

Hart-Tish Park at Applegate Lake has 16 campsites ion a forested area next to the lake in the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest.  The campground has 7 single-family tent sites, 1 group-tent site, as well as 8 lakeside RV parking spots. The single-family sites can have up to 4 guests and 1 vehicle. The group site can have up to 15 guests and 3 vehicles. The RV spots can have up to 4 guests and 1 vehicle. The max vehicle length at the tent sites is 20ft and 40ft at the RV spots.  All of the tent sites have plenty of shade but the RV spots are in full sun.

All tent campsites are a short walk-in of approximately 75 yards. This campground provides carts for transporting gear. One of the RV spots is ADA accessible.

The campground is seasonal and usually open early May to mid September. Amenities include potable (drinking) water, fuilsh toilets, trash collection and a camp store. The store has camping supplies such as firewood, propane, ice, and fishing gear. There are plenty of drinks and snacks here too. Kayak and paddle board rentals are available at $45 for 3-hrs or $60 all-day. Also, there is a boat ramp, dock, and a fish cleaning station available. Wi-Fi is available to purchase for $30 for 12 hours. Cell service is not available. Some close by RV dump stations include Valley of the Rogue State Park RV Dump Station (40mi north), Seven Feathers RV Resort (87mi north), and Southern Oregon RV Park (32mi northeast).

Hart-Tish Park at Applegate Lake – Area & Recreation

This park and campground is in southwest Oregon in the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest. The surrounding area consists of a variety of landscapes such as volcanic peaks, rivers, and old-growth forests. The majestic Red Buttes Wilderness is beautiful in the background when looking south over the lake. The Cascade Range and the Siskiyou Mountains contribute to make up this Forest. Diverse landscapes provide habitat for a wide range of wildlife. From spotted owls and bull elk to salamanders and sandhill cranes, there is plenty of wildlife to see.

Some popular activities to do here are hiking, biking, picnicking, as well as wildlife viewing. Also, there are all kinds of water sports and activities available at Applegate Lake. In addition, there are interpretive programs, photography, and stargazing. The Collings Mountain Trail crosses Upper Applegate Road and drops down to Grouse Creek. It passes an abandoned miners’ cabin and several mines, as well as an inactive Bigfoot trap. It then travels along the western slope of Collings Mountain. The trail offers panoramic views of Applegate Lake and the Siskiyou Crest. The nearby, hiking-only Rogue River National Recreation Trail stretches 40 miles between Grave Creek and Big Bend. It offers some of southwestern Oregon’s most scenic landscapes and rewarding hiking experiences. Visitors also enjoy Crater Lake National Park.

Other campgrounds you might like are Harr Point, Tipsu Tyee, Watkins, Carberry Creek, Applegate Lake, Flumet Flat, Jackson, as well as Hutton.
