Mud Lake Overview

Mud Lake Campground has 7 campsites set in a forested area and is across the highway from the Anthony Lakes Mountain Resort Ski Area.  The rustic campground is best suited for tents and small trailers/RVs.  Six of the sites (2-7) have electric hookups. The lake is often dry in the late summer, but it is still a great area for photography and viewing wildflowers.

The campground is generally open late June to late September. Amenities include vault toilets and trash collection. Potable (drinking) water is available over at nearby Anthony Lake Campground.  Cell service is not available. Each site also has a gravel parking spur, table, fire ring and grill.

Mud Lake Campground – Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, fishing, picnicking and wildlife viewing. Other activities include driving the Elkhorn Drive Scenic Byway. Picturesque views of the ski area, Gunsight Peak and the Elkhorn Mountains are available after a short hike across the byway.
