Ogden Group Campground Deschutes National Forest Oregon

Ogden Group Overview

Ogden Group Campground features two reservable group campsites that can accommodate up to 350 campers when reserved together, making it one of Central Oregon’s premier locations for large group camping. Each site welcomes both tent campers and trailers/RVs, although there are no electrical hookups.

The seasonal group campground is usually open mid May to mid September. Amenities include large group tables, fire rings, vault toilets and trash collection. Potable (drinking) water is not available.

Nestled within the high desert landscape near Newberry National Volcanic Monument, the campground offers a peaceful forest setting surrounded by towering ponderosa pines, volcanic formations, and abundant outdoor recreation. Designed specifically for large gatherings, it is a popular destination for scout troops, church groups, family reunions, educational outings, and other organized events seeking a private camping experience.

Ogden Group Campground – Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation opportunities are plentiful. The nearby Peter Skene Ogden National Scenic Trail follows Paulina Creek past several waterfalls before climbing to beautiful Paulina Lake, while the Crater Rim Trail offers spectacular views of Newberry Volcano, forests, lava flows, and Central Oregon’s high desert. Popular activities include hiking, fishing, wildlife viewing, photography, boating, and exploring the unique volcanic landscapes of Newberry National Volcanic Monument. Visitors can also tour the Lava River Cave, Lava Lands Visitor Center, Paulina Peak, and the Obsidian Flow, all located within a short drive of the campground.
