Norris Dam State Park Overview

Norris Dam State Park is located on the shores of beautiful Norris Lake and has 2 developed campgrounds with a total of 85 campsites (75 with water/electric hookups). Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Cottages/cabins are also available to rent.

The park and campgrounds are open year round. Amenities include  potable (drinking) water, flush toilets, hot-water showers, laundry facilities, trash collection and a dump station.  The park also has a visitor center, a camp store / gift shop, full-service marina, boat launch, picnic areas, hiking/biking trails, historic structures, playgrounds, basketball, tennis courts and WiFi. Cell service is fair in the area.

Developed Campgrounds

The east campground is located just outside the historic district of Norris Dam State Park and also near the Clinch River. It has 25 campsites with water & electric hook-ups, as well as 10 primitive tent-only sites (no hookups).  Please note that campsites 4-25 are in full or partial sun and located under TVA powerlines.

The west campground (recently renovated) has 50 sites with water and electric hook-ups.

Backcountry Camping

Three backcountry campsites are also available at Norris Dam State park.

Backcountry Site 1 is overlooking Norris Lake and is big enough for two small tents. Capacity is four people.  Backcountry Site 2 is along Lakeview Trail, and is big enough for one tent and capacity is four people also.  Both sites have fire rings with a grill attachment and a level area.  No water or electric is available.  The trail to get to these two sites begins at the TVA / Camp Kinchen parking area. Round trip to either site is roughly 11.5 miles.

Backcountry Site 3 is located on top of Andrews Ridge with beautiful views of Norris Lake during the winter. There is a stone fire ring. No water or electric is available.  The site will accommodate up to three tents and six people.
