Kings Creek Overview
Kings Creek Campground (aka ‘King Creek’) has 37 campsites and is located in a forest area about 1/4 mile from Tropic Reservoir. King Creek also flows near the campground and the East Fork of the Sevier River is also nearby. Two group sites are also available.
The campground is generally open mid May to mid September. Amenities include potable (drinking) water, flush toilets, trash collection and a dump staton. There is also a boat ramp with 1/2 mile of the campground. Cell service is not available in the area. Firewood is also available to purchase from the camp host (site #2).
Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each site has a gravel parking spur, table, fire ring and grill.
The group area is isolated from the main campground and provides privacy for gatherings and events. A large covered pavilion with picnic tables is also included with the group site to provide shade and cover from the weather. Group Site A (RV) can accommodate up to 50 people and 6 vehicles. Group Site B (tent) accommodates up to 25 people. and 100 vehicles.
Kings Creek Campground – Area Recreation & Activities
Kings Creek is a favorite of ATV enthusiasts because of its easy access to a large network of trails. The Fremont ATV trail passes within 1/4 mile of the campground and the Great Western Trail is nearby. There are six OHV loop trails that are accessible from the campground. These loops are a part of the Paunsaugunt OHV Trail System.
Hiking and mountain biking trails are plentiful as well, with access from various points within the campground. Tropic Reservoir offers boating, kayaking and fishing for brook, rainbow, brown and cutthroat trout. OHVs are allowed for ingress and egress to campsites. Other activities include picnicking, stargazing, hunting and wildlife viewing.
Kings Creek Trail and Chimney Rock Trail are accessible from inside the campground. They both have great views of Hoodoos from the bottom and the top. They also have beautiful overviews of Tropic Reservoir.
Bryce Canyon National Park is also about 9 miles to the west.
