Snow Canyon State Park is tucked amid lava flows and soaring sandstone cliffs in a strikingly colorful and fragile desert environment. Called a mini Zion – this beautiful canyon features red rock formations, hikes, sand dunes and hidden caves. Snow Canyon State Park preserves and protects the unique geological formations of red Navajo sandstone, capped by an overlay of black lava rock. Visitors marvel at majestic views and the subtle interplay of light, shadow, and color dancing across canyon walls. The park consists of 5,738 acres at an elevation of 3,200 feet in southwestern Utah and is located within the 62,000 acre Red Cliffs Desert Reserve.

The best time to visit is early spring and late fall. The summer months can be brutally hot (110+ during the day and 85+ at night). There are a variety of hikes over the slick red rocks, as well as lava tubes and caves you can explore. There are also several bike trails, none of which are extremely demanding.
