Utahraptor State Park Overview

Utahraptor State Park has 67 modern campsites (with water & electric) hookups and is located about 15 miles northwest of Moab, UT. Another 20 primitive sites area also available.

The area has significant paleontological sites and dinosaur fossils, including those of the Utahraptor. Thousands of dinosaur bones and over 10 dinosaur species have been found here. Maybe you’ll find a new one!

There are two campgrounds at Utahraptor. Gastonia Campground has three loops and all sites have 20/30/50 amp electrical hookups near the paved driveway. Back-in and pull-thru sites are available (up to 50 feet in length). Each site also has a table, fire ring and grill. Loops 2 and 3 also have small shade structures at each campsite.   Amenities include modern family style restrooms, with flush toilets, showers, a dump station and trash collection.

The improved primitive Fossil Flats campground does not have hookups. Each site has a table, fire ring and grill. Back in and pull through sites are available.  Amenities include vault toilets and trash collection.

Area Recreation & Activities

In addition to its prehistoric significance, Utahraptor State Park also has a diverse wildlife and beautiful high-desert landscapes to explore.  Outdoor recreation includes OHV trail riding, hiking, mountain biking and picnicking. Stargazing is also great in the area.

The Utahraptor State Park visitor center is also open and offers insights insights into the park’s history, geology, and paleontology. It’s open year-round (most days) and also has WiFi available.

Other campgrounds in the area include North Klondike, Courthouse Rock and Devil’s Garden (Arches National Park).
