Buffalo Park Campground Swim Beach

Buffalo Park Campground has 21 campsites (11 with water & electric hookups) in a forested area next to beautiful John H. Kerr Reservoir. Some sites are waterfront.

The campground is generally open early May to late September. Amenities include potable (drinking) water, flush and vault toilets, hot-water showers, trash collection and a dump station. There’s also a picnic / day use area, playground, a swim beach, boat ramp and boat trailer lot. Cell service is good in the area.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs.  Sites 1-4 and 12-18 have water & electric hookups. Each site also has a parking spur, table, lantern post, fire ring and grill.

Buffalo Park Campground – Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation includes boating, fishing, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, paddle-boarding, hiking, biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing.

Kerr Reservoir, also known as Buggs Island Lake, is a 50,000-acre lake that extends 39 miles up the wooded, cove-studded shoreline of the Roanoke River in Virginia and North Carolina.  Its 800 miles of wooded shoreline stretch across six counties in two states and offer countless recreation opportunities for visitors.
