Kiptopeke State Park Overview
Kiptopeke State Park has 62 single campsites and is located on the eastern shore of Virginia with easy access to Chesapeake Bay. There are 36 sites with electric hookups and 26 tent only sites. There are also 5 lodges, 4 cabins, 4 yurts and 1 bunkhouse available.
Kiptopeke is three miles from the northern terminus of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, which has a substantial each-way toll charge, on Route 13. Turn west on Route 704; the park entrance is within a half mile.
Campground amenities include potable (drinking) water, flush toilets, hot-water showers ($), trash collection (dumpsters) and a dump station. There’s also a camp store and boat ramp. Firewood is also available for sale from the camp host. Campsites also have a table, fire ring and grate. Campers can park their boat trailers at their campsite or at the boat-launch parking are for an additional fee.

With access to the Chesapeake Bay, the Park offers a variety of outdoor recreation including boating, kayaking, fishing, swimming and other water sports. Other activities include hiking, biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing.

We camped @ KSP in a travel trailer in June 2019. Absolutely loved it! Campsites are spacious with some shade trees. We didn’t reserve a site just picked one that was open. Very clean, no trash laying around. Rangers were very friendly and helpful. Can’t wait to go back!
I noticed that your photos for Kiptopeke LEAVE OUT sites B01 through B023 and many others as well. The website for Kiptopeke State Park says that there are a total of 138 campsites at the park including tent sites and yurts. We have a reservation forB013, for example and that site is not included in your photos.

Correct. Unfortunately we do not have a photographer living in the area so we’ll need to fly one out there and get the pics. Hopefully in 2026. Sorry for the delay.

We really enjoyed our July 4 weekend at Kiptopeke. The campsites are close together so there isn’t much privacy. Trees provided shade part of the day. The bathroom facility at the campground is dated and inadequate for the needs of the campground at full capacity. It should have been cleaned twice as often (floor was always very muddy) and sometimes it was low on toilet paper. Nevertheless, it was a short walk to the beach and the water was divine. The water is very shallow for about 100 yards out, making it a great place to lay in a floatie or let small children play. There is a Royal Farms right outside the park entrance where we picked up ice 2x per day and got a great bucket of fried chicken one night (it was too hot to cook).. We also enjoyed some time in Cape Charles. There was a charming July 4 parade, followed by Ice Cream at the Brown dog, a little boutique shopping, and lunch at AJs. I highly recommend this park.
