Morris Hill Overview

Morris Hill Campground has 58 campsites set in a forested area on a ridge above Lake Moomaw in eastern Virginia. The campground is about 1/2 mile from the lake.  Group sites are also available that can accommodate up to 25 people and 8 tents per site.

The campground is generally open May 1 through October 31. Amenities include water, flush toilets, hot-water showers, trash collection and dump station. There is also a playground and camp host that sells firewood. The group sites have vault toilets, picnic tables and grills. Cell service is fair at the campground. Coles Point Boat Ramp, the nearest boat ramp to Morris, is less than two miles away.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each site also has a gravel parking spur (ranging in size from 23 to 40 feet), table, fire ring and grill.

Morris Hill Campground – Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes boating, kayaking, paddle-boarding, canoeing, fishing, swimming, water sports, hiking, mountain biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing.

Other campgrounds in the area include Coles Point, Bolar Mountain Recreation Area, McClintic Point and Lake Sherwood.
