Cape Disappointment State Park Overview
Cape Disappointment State Park Campground has 220 mixed-used campsites and is located on the Long Beach Peninsula and where the Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean. There are 137 standard campsites, 60 full hookup sites, 18 sites with water and electricity only and five primitive campsites. There are also 14 yurts and 3 cabins available. Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVS (up to 45 feet).
Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, hot showers ($) and a dump station.
The Cape “D” Store also carries a variety of items to meet your camping needs, including: firewood, ice, a variety of groceries, clothing, games and toys, fishing gear, RV supplies and propane. In addition they also serve up fresh hot sandwiches and ice cream. They are open weekends in March, April and October and daily from May to September.
Cape Disappointment State Park Area Recreation
The park includes 1,882 acres, two miles of ocean shoreline, 2 lighthouses, and the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center. There is also freshwater lakes, saltwater marshes and ocean tidelands you can explore. Outdoor recreation includes beach-combing, ship watching, hiking, biking, picnicking, exploring historic sites, dig for clams and fish. Also, the nearby coastal towns of Ilwaco and Long Beach feature special events and festivals spring through fall.
In addition, the campground has 137 standard campsites which include 60 full hookup sites, 18 sites with water and electricity, 5 primitive campsites, 14 yurts, 3 cabins, one dump station, 8 restrooms (two ADA) and 14 showers (four ADA).
Fort Stevens State Park is across the Columbia River in Oregon.

We stayed here in June 2016 in our 24′ Chinook Destiny. This is a very popular summertime park, and our reservations had us moving to three spots since none were available consecutively, the last of which was dry camping. There is no shortage of activities here, the highlights of our stay being lots of hiking, biking on the paved Discovery Trail to Ilwaco, and enjoying a Saturday night concert by local musicians. Notable wildlife was deer, frogs by the ton, and garter snakes.
Trying to pick a cabin at cape dissapointment. None of the photos show the 3 cabins in between sites 205 & 209. Do you happen to have them?
Sorry Pamela, we don’t have any photos of those 3 cabins, but we’ll try and get those photographed later this year.
Normally during summer months along the coast the weather is constantly overcast, foggy, and windy, I would like some warmth.
I assume campgrounds A, B, and C are like this, but is the weather like this at campground D as well?

Pretty much all of the campground loops (A, B, C and D) at Cape Disappointment State Park will be damp, overcast and foggy. Loop D is a tad more protected (from wind).
If you get a site with a yurt, is there room for a tent as well?

We’re not sure what the policy is at Cape Disappointment State Park regarding having a tent at a Yurt site. I recommend you call the Park directly to see what they say: 360 642-3078
Received Advisory saying that space “might be available,” but get no information how to proceed. Want to stay with my Truck tent for August 27-28. How can I complete this reservation? Have tried “washingtongoingtocamp.com, but that gets hijacked by hotels/motels. Really difficult! jhays317@gmail.com
