Manti-La Sal National Forest Overview

Manti-La Sal National Forest is a spectacular 1.4-million-acre national forest spanning central and southeastern Utah. The forest is unique because it consists of two separate mountain regions: the Manti Mountains of central Utah and the La Sal Mountains near Moab. Visitors can experience everything from high alpine peaks, mountain lakes, and dense aspen forests to rugged desert canyons and red-rock landscapes.

The forest offers year-round outdoor recreation opportunities, including hiking, mountain biking, fishing, wildlife viewing, hunting, off-roading, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, and scenic driving. Popular destinations include the La Sal Mountains near Moab, Dark Canyon Wilderness, Joe’s Valley, and the Huntington & Eccles Canyons National Scenic Byway.
