Olympic National Forest Overview

The Olympic National Forest is located in the Pacific Northwest and features a rich biodiversity including rivers, mountains, rainforests and the ocean.

Surrounded on three sides by saltwater, with the Olympic Mountains nestled in the center, the Olympic National Forest offers the unique opportunity to hike a mountain for great 360 degree views, explore the only temperate rainforest in the lower 48, and camp right along one of the many pristine bodies of water.

The National Forest also offers diverse ares to explore including rushing rivers, temperate rainforest, coastal rain forests and alpine wildflower.

Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation includes camping, hiking, backpacking, biking, horseback riding, picnicking, fishing, swimming, beach combing, OHV trail riding and wildlife viewing.
