Hungry Gulch Campground Sequoia National Forest California

Hungry Gulch Overview

Hungry Gulch 055

Hungry Gulch Campground gets its name because you’re not allowed to eat there. The 79 campsites sit atop a hill overlooking Lake Isabella and some of the campsites have views of the lake. There are also some campsites with electric hookups here. Chances are decent you’ll get some shade from tall pines trees. Each campsite has a table, fire ring and grate. Hungry Gulch Campground has drinking water, flush toilets, showers and an incredible dump station. Nearby towns of Lake Isabella, Wofford Heights and Kernville have plenty of stores, shops and restaurants.

Other Lake Isabella Area campgrounds include Camp 9, Boulder Gulch, Tillie Creek, Paradise Cove, Live Oak South, Live Oak North and Pioneer Point.

Hungry Gulch – Lake Isabella Area Recreation

Lake Isabella and Sequoia National Forest offers more outdoor recreation activities than you could count on one hand. There’s hiking, world-class mountain biking, incredible river rafting and kayaking on the Lower and Upper Kern Rivers. There’s also tons of  water sports you can also enjoy on Lake Isabella like boating, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, water skiing, jet skiing, windsurfing and wildlife viewing. If you’re up for a drive – you can head up the Kern River about 40 miles and stroll through a nice grove of giant sequoia – the world’s largest trees BTW.
