Brightman Flat Overview

Brightman Flat Campground is set above the Middle Fork Stanislaus River and has 33 first-come first-served campsites. It is located 21 miles east of the Summit Ranger Station on Highway 108.

The seasonal campground is generally open mid May to mid October. Access to the river is difficult as there are no trailers and you’d need to traverse a steep hillside. Amenities include vault toilets and trash collection (dumpsters). Potable (drinking) water is not available. Cell service is not available.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each site also has a gravel parking spur, table, fire ring and grill. Hookups are not available. Single and double-family campsites are available.

Outdoor recreation in the area includes fishing, hiking, mountain biking, picnicking, stargazing and wildlife viewing.
