Chico Flat Campground offers about 10-12 dispersed campsites and is located along the shores of the Upper Kern River. The camping areas can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Some sites are ‘walk-to’.

The campground is open year-round and is free! Campground amenities include trash collection and vault toilets (in the summer). There is no water or tables. Camping must be at least 25 feet from the river.

Chico Flat – Area Recreation

The are is quite popular for river rafting, kayaking, fishing, mountain biking and hiking. You can also enjoy picnicking, wildlife viewing and horseback riding. The town of Kernville is about 5 miles away and has a grocery store, gas stations, shops and restaurants.

Other campgrounds in the are include Hospital Flat and Camp Three. Thunderbird Group camp is also located nearby.
