Christie Campground Lassen National Forest California

Christie Overview

Christie Campground has 69 spacious single-family campsites next to Eagle Lake in the Lassen National Forest. This is where the Sierras meet the Cascades which offers unique and diverse landscapes, geology, wildlife, and vegetation. Out of the 69 campsites, 47 of them are reservation only while 22 are available on a first-come first serve basis. There are many pine and fir trees that offer a lot of shade for you and your pets. The campground is about 5 miles from the marina and boat ramp. There are a few other campgrounds that are closer to the marina. However, the large distance from the marina makes it less crowded than the other campgrounds nearby.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Sites that allow RVs/trailers allow for 1 RV with tow vehicle per site. Tent sites allow 1 vehicle per site. Most sites can accommodate an extra vehicle for an additional per-night fee. Also, each site has a parking spur ranging in size from 40 to 65 feet. They have tables, fire rings, and grills at all sites. Amenities also include drinking water, flush toilets, showers and trash collection. Firewood is available to purchase from the camp host.  Cell service is fair. A dump station is also about 2 miles away and requires a $5 dump fee.  The Eagle Lake Marina store has gas, propane, fishing and camping supplies, as well as shower and laundry facilities. The campground is generally open mid May to mid September.

Christie Campground – Area Recreation & Activities

Fishing for the Eagle Lake Rainbow Trout, a California Heritage Trout, is the primary recreational activity on Eagle Lake. It is the 3rd largest natural lake in California (22,000 acres) and provides plenty of room for swimming, kayaking, and all other boating activities. Other activities include hiking, mountain biking, OHV trail riding, as well as picnicking and wildlife viewing. Also, the Lassen Volcanic National Park is only about 1hr away making it a great destination for a day trip.

Other campgrounds in the area include Merrill, Eagle, Aspen Grove and Pine Ridge.

Here is some information on fishing for Eagle Lake rainbow trout.
