Cottonwood Overview

Cottonwood campground in Joshua Tree National Park has 61 campsites for tents, trailers and RVs (up to 35 feet), and is the first campground you’ll see if you enter from Park’s south entrance.  Cottonwood campground accepts reservations and is open year round. Group campsites are also available.

Campground amenities include potable (drinking) water, flush toilets, trash collection (dumpsters) and a picnic area. Each campsite also has a parking pad, picnic table, fire ring and grill. Cell service is not available in the area.

Cottonwood – Joshua Tree National Park – Area Recreation

Outdoor recreation includes camping, hiking, star-gazing, biking, wildlife viewing and exploring the many historic sites throughout Joshua Tree National Park. There are not any rocks/boulders to climb in this area, but there are some nice hiking trails from the campground. Cottonwood Spring Oasis is also one of the best key secrets in Joshua Tree National Park. It was a n important water stop for prospectors, mines and teasers traveling from Mecca to mines in the north. It’s also one of the best birding spots in the park!

Other Joshua Tree National Park campgrounds to consider include Belle, White Tank, Ryan, Jumbo Rocks, Hidden Valley, Black Rock Canyon, and Indian Cove.
