Grouse Valley Overview
Grouse Valley is a 2-cabin complex in the Giant Sequoia National Monument. The Sequoia National Forest surrounds these cabins. This complex consists of the Lakeside Cabin and the Hillside Cabin. The Lakeside Cabin can accommodate up to 12 guests and 4 vehicles. However, the Hillside Cabin can have up to 10 guests and 4 vehicles. These cabins are reservation only. Also, they can have vehicles up to 20ft. There is plenty of shade and some cell service. Pets may not come in the cabins. Vegetation on the property includes riparian, mixed conifer, as well as fruit orchards. The property also has a lower and an upper man-made lake. The caretaker’s cabin is nearby as well.
There are tons of amenities that these cabins provide. The Lakeside Cabin is 1,550 square feet. It has 2 stories and an 8ft covered deck on 3 sides. Also, it has 2 bedrooms and 6 beds. The Hillside Cabin is a little bit smaller at 1,400 square feet. It also features only 1 bedroom and 5 beds. They also include a full kitchen, living and dining areas, as well as full baths. There are also hot showers, electricity, laundry, and grills. In addition, they have a horse stall, hitching post, and a fire pit. Firewood is available for purchase in Springville. The closest dump stations are Princess Campground (67mi north), Potwisha Campground (26mi south), and Dorst Creek Campground (52mi north).
Grouse Valley – Area & Recreation
There are tons of fun activities to do in the Grouse Valley area as well as Sequoia National Forest. Popular activities include hiking, fishing, boating, mountain biking, as well as horseback riding. A creek connects the 2 man-made lakes on the property. Trout can be found in the local streams. Also, there is plenty of wildlife to see. Black bears, mule deers, marmots, as well as Steller’s Jays can be found in the area.
The Trail of 100 Giants is a 2hr drive away but it is well worth it.
Other campgrounds that you might like are Horse Creek, Tule, Cedar Bluff, and Lupine.
